DermalNutrients™

DESCRIPTION
Healthy-looking skin is dependent upon quality sources of dietary protein in order to build collagen and elastin, two of the principal proteins that give skin its integrity and elasticity. With aging, the turn-over and loss of these key dermal components is constant, but the ability of the body to keep up with this wear and tear is diminished. To maintain a youthful appearance, the dermis requires assistance both structurally and functionally.

Notably, many of the standard treatment regimens used in modern aesthetics work to accelerate skin turnover through processes such as exfoliation, treatment of hyper-pigmentation or tissue stimulation. Inherent in these treatment protocols is the assumption that the typical patient has adequate nutrition to support dermal regeneration. Unfortunately, that is commonly not the case with the average American. This nutrition shortfall is particularly relevant for an aging population which is occurring in the U.S. and worldwide.

DermalNutrients has been specifically developed, to support the health and nutritional needs of the dermis. DermalNutrients fills in the gap that is missing in the diet of most clients seen in a professional setting. It does this by providing a unique blend of whey protein, combined with specific dermal and connective tissue nutrients. DermalNutrients is a specialized functional food that has been formulated for daily use, but with higher dosing, is also well-suited to support post-operative wound healing.

BENEFITS
VitaMedica's DermalNutrients offers a number of benefits including:

High-Quality Blend of Whey Proteins
Compared to other protein sources, the high biological value of whey protein makes it a superior source to repair, build and maintain dermal tissue. DermalNutrients contains a triple combination of whey protein concentrate, isolate and hydrolysate.

Necessary Nutrients for Post-Surgical Wound Healing
DermalNutrients has been fortified with two conditionally-essential amino acids, L-glutamine and L-arginine. The physiological requirement for these two amino acids is increased under certain conditions such as stress and surgery, where dietary sources become paramount.

Immunonutrients for Enhanced Immunity
DermalNutrients contains lactoferrin, fructooligosaccharides and immunoglobulin. These three nutrients enhance dermal immune function, and promote the growth of beneficial GI bacteria. These bacteria, in turn, serve a number of purposes including absorption of essential nutrients and generalized immune enhancement.

Glucosamine to Promote Wound Healing
DermalNutrients also contains glucosamine, which is important for healthy skin and for normal wound healing. Glucosamine works in this regard by promoting hyaluronic acid production. By enhancing hyaluronic acid production, the movement and division of dermal cells is stimulated thereby promoting faster healing. In this way, glucosamine plays a role in the healing of surgical incisions and skin wounds. In clinical studies, participants who began taking supplemental glucosamine before surgery and continued taking it until their incisions were completely healed showed generally faster healing with less scarring than other participants who did not take glucosamine.

High Protein, Low Carbohydrate & Low Fat
DermalNutrients contains just 35 calories, 1 gram of unsaturated fat, zero trans-fat and only 2 grams of carbohydrate.

Mixes Instantly, with Excellent Taste Profile
DermalNutrients has been formulated to mix instantly in milk, soy milk, or water. The delicious tasting chocolate flavor makes it easy for patients to incorporate this nutraceutical into their daily routine.

INDICATIONS
DermalNutrients is indicated for patients to help provide the proteins and other nutrients necessary to build and maintain collagen and elastin, two of the principal proteins in the skin. DermalNutrients is also indicated for patients following surgery, to help repair and build new tissue.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Caution: If you use anticoagulants (blood thinners) or antiplatelet drugs, arginine may increase your risk of bleeding. Arginine may also increase blood sugar levels.

Glutamine is important in the regulation of acid-base balance and is not recommended for patients who have kidney disease, cirrhosis of the liver, Reye's syndrome, or other illnesses that cause overload of ammonia in the body. Arginine is contraindicated in individuals with kidney or liver disease. Individuals with active herpes or other viral infections should not take supplemental arginine because it may promote viral growth.
